What is this word, Rain?

Published by billymac under funny, sarcasm, weather

An amazing thing happened on the way to work today in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, and if you believe in these types of things, it could be called a miracle.  First the sky became dark and gloomy much like when it is dusk, but it wasn’t dusk it was morning.  This frightened me as I thought somehow I or we had angered the gods, and he was blotting out the sun as a form of retribution for making Dancing with the Stars popular or electing (and re-electing) Bush.  As I prayed to Crom for mercy and forgiveness, the unthinkable happened.  Water began to fall from the sky.

I know this sounds crazy please put down the phone, do not call the authorities just hear me out.  Moisture actually collected in the sky and formulated some sort of water droplet that fell directly down upon the earth.  Was this a gift from heaven?  Crom would certainly not offer any alms to the wretched humans on earth, it must be another more benevolent god.  I quickly checked to see if the “sky water” was acidic, it didn’t appear to melt the car or the structures around me, that was good.  I found it difficult to see out of the windshield of my car as the “sky water” was distorting my view, I stopped the car and gazed upward wondering if this was truly a gift or if this was a sign of the end-times.

I over-heard another person gazing up at the “sky water” refer to it as “rain”.  This sounds like a made up ridiculous word, but I suppose it will have to do until the universities and government officials can classify the phenomenon and assign a proper name to it.  I’m leaning toward “Skwater”, although it sounds a bit like what you do to relieve yourself outdoors.  I will keep you posted regarding this Skwater event.
