Highest. Deficit. Ever. The White House announced yesterday that the 2009 budget year projected deficit will be a record $482 Billion(click here for full story). That’s Billion with a B and at 482, it is damn close to a half a trillion dollars. The report also noted that the deficit will represent 3.3% of the US GDP, not nearly as bad as 1983. The total revenue (i.e. money that the government pulls in via taxes and other means) is projected as $2.7 trillion. That means that a deficit of $482 billion comes out to a 17.8% budget over-run. As a person who deals with budgets at work quite frequently, I would be fucking fired if I was over budget by anything close to 17%. And yet somehow everybody just shrugs their shoulders and say “it’s no big deal, we’re the biggest economy in the world”. We’re a bunch of fucking idiots is what we are. The most ironic part of this is the Republican party is supposed to be the small government conservative party. Bullshit.
The title of this post is in regards to the “I’m feeling lucky” button (IFL) on Google, not to the fact that I think there is a high probability that I will get laid tonight… but shit, ya never know. Anyway, I haven’t used that particular button in a while, mostly because it has little value, especially after stumble came out, and I like to see my options before jumping in. Lately, the searches I toss into IFL end up on urban dictionary (like this) or wikipedia… actually, that probably says a lot about me.
However, there were a couple of searches that ended up “interesting” like:
I’m a little more than half way through the book Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army, and I’ve come to an interesting hypothesis. The privatization of the US Armed Services is taking free market economics (i.e., laissez-faire) too far. In general I’m actually in favor of more privatization, especially on the services side of government like the DMV, Lottery, Toll Roads, tax, schools, etc if the proper oversight, controls and requirements are in place. But the military? I’m not so sure about that. Do we want a private army (or several) fully armed with free reign to kill that sits outside of both our military and civilian justice systems? I recommend that you read this book, it is guaranteed to piss you off no matter where you lie on the political spectrum (full disclosure, it is a left leaning book, but well cited and written). This book will give you an insider view on how corrupt and arrogant our current administration is, and how a few people have the power to mold and create policy to profit their buddies and themselves.
While I’m in full-on Bush bashing mode, check out the video below from the Chapelle Show. This is one of my favorite bits from the show, and even though it is several years old, it is pure gold. Have fun watching bitches!
What? Huh? Oil? Who said something about oil bitch, are you cookin?
I mentioned this in the comments of yesterday’s post about Iran, I was able to track down a youtube clip of Bushy-poo making his infamous “Fool me Once” blunder. I can see Bush singing like Homer in the shower:
I am so smart… S.M.R.T, I am so smart
And Homer’s little song and dance… (sorry for the shitty video, it’s the only one I could find).
I love Bush, no really, I do. He’s like that retarded kid that you just want to hug after he finishes 5th in the 100 yard dash at the special olympics. The only problem is, nobody wants to hug you when you destroy an economy, obliterate any sort of positive foreign policy or foreign relationship, led your country down the rabbit hole of Iraq killing thousands of our own soldiers and thousands of Iraqi resistors, and thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens. AND, now he’s still pushing an agenda of aggression toward Iran that can only end up in another immensely expensive (both in terms of human and capital) campaign against another sovereign nation. Rhetoric from the top asshole in the state: (click here for full article)
Bush’s criticism of Iran came Wednesday during a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem. Bush is in the region to encourage the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.
Bush called the incident “a very dangerous gesture” by Iran and warned the Islamic republic against any escalation.
“We have made it very clear, and they know our position, and that is: There will be serious consequences if they attack our ships, pure and simple.”
“My advice to them is: Don’t do it.”
Does anybody else find it ironic that this dipshit is proselytizing his aggressive agenda against Iran at a news conference in the middle-east during a mission of Israeli-Palestinian peace? He probably doesn’t see any issue with that, because Iranians are not Palestinians and he’s mixing up his legacy items. 1) Middle-east peace, no problem in one year (check), and 2) Attack another country of “brown” people, ok let’s choose… Iran (check)
First it was the bullshit about the nukes in Iran, including rhetoric from Tony Blair… now it is this little incident in the Persian Gulf with some tiny Iranian boats that acted aggressively toward our ships. Wah wah, the little boats drove towards us fast and made us cry. What a bunch of pussies, here we are 13,000 miles from the US east coast driving a group of heavily armed warships through a 20 mile straight (Hormuz) in the Persian Gulf that is something like, I dunno, ZERO miles from Iran. And we’re calling foul when some little speed boats get close and some asshole yells something over the radio? And THIS is what we worry about? Get some perspective bitches:
It’s Friday, oops, I mean Saturday…. Photo caption contest, winner will receive a big stinking fat pile of nuthin. My entry is in the comments, please add yours.
Bush = asshole. I suppose more accurately, the Bush Administration = assholes. Because I don’t think Bush is actually in control of his own administration (i.e., maybe he’s not the decidererererer after all). As reported last week on CNN, the Bush Administration has been ramping up the rhetoric and hate speech vis-a-vis Iran, even with the knowledge that the Iranian nuke program was scrapped 4 years ago. An excerpt from the article:
In October, the president told reporters, “If you’re interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be preventing [Iran] from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon.” The apparent gap between what U.S. intelligence officials knew in August and Bush’s later warnings drew sharp criticism from Sen. Joseph Biden, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a Democratic presidential candidate, who called Bush’s explanation unbelievable.
“I refuse to believe that,” Biden said Tuesday. “If that’s true, he has the most incompetent staff in modern American history, and he’s one of the most incompetent presidents in modern American history.”
He’s not incompetent, he’s a corrupt son of a bitch. I would rather have the last guy, you know, the one who couldn’t keep his dick in his pants, than the slap in the face corruption of this guy. And to think they wanted to impeach party-boy for fucking what’s her face? Here’s the thing, this is pretty-much ”in your face” corruption, how bad is the stuff we don’t know about?
