The Propaganda Machine Rolls on…

Say it isn’t so, our bullshit government has engaged in propaganda activity directly on US soil? The New York Times had a very interesting article yesterday titled: “Behind TV Analysts, Pentagon’s Hidden Hand“. No, the hidden hand wasn’t up Bush’s mostly retarded ass as I had originally guessed, it is actually in your pocket and mine, as well as up the skirts of school girls (the Pentagon is a dirty dirty place full of creepy pederasts). The article is a great read and goes into detail how the Bush Administration uses former military officials, who are now mostly tied up with the private sector defense industry, as embedded puppets at the major TV news outlets. Big surprise, FoxNews had the highest number of these ass-clowns followed by NBC, CNN, CBS and ABC. One warning, the article is fucking 11 pages long, most of us don’t have the attention span or time to dedicate to an article that long, but it was worth the extra minutes for me.

We all know suspect that the information flowing from the Bush Administration is bullshit, but now there is solid evidence of an information tampering program initiated by the assholes in charge of the country. They brought these “independent” analysts in and held private briefings with them with the exact message points the administration wanted to get out and then deployed them to the networks. And this shit works.

Hidden behind that appearance of objectivity, though, is a Pentagon information apparatus that has used those analysts in a campaign to generate favorable news coverage of the administration’s wartime performance, an examination by The New York Times has found.

The effort, which began with the buildup to the Iraq war and continues to this day, has sought to exploit ideological and military allegiances, and also a powerful financial dynamic: Most of the analysts have ties to military contractors vested in the very war policies they are asked to assess on air.

I really fucking hate this administration. And, I’m not sure if our government is realistically fixable.

Pentagon is for shitting

I think we might be done

Published by billymac under BS, criminals, douche, ethics, scary, video

Or at least heading in that direction. I’m referring of course to our civilization. The answer to the question of “What caused the fall of Rome” has no real answer, however it had some dominant factors like population in decline, incompetent and corrupt political system, and economic crisis… we are fitting the bill fairly nicely. For me it is those factors plus the unbelievable shit that we as a population get into. For example, check out this disturbing motherfucking shit out:

I’m speechless and sick to my stomach.

Then there is shit like this:

What the fuck is wrong with these people…

Privatization gone too far?

Published by billymac under BS, Bush, ethics, politics, scary

I’m a little more than half way through the book Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army, and I’ve come to an interesting hypothesis.  The privatization of the US Armed Services is taking free market economics (i.e., laissez-faire) too far.  In general I’m actually in favor of more privatization, especially on the services side of government like the DMV, Lottery, Toll Roads, tax, schools, etc if the proper oversight, controls and requirements are in place.  But the military?  I’m not so sure about that.  Do we want a private army (or several) fully armed with free reign to kill that sits outside of both our military and civilian justice systems?  I recommend that you read this book, it is guaranteed to piss you off no matter where you lie on the political spectrum (full disclosure, it is a left leaning book, but well cited and written).  This book will give you an insider view on how corrupt and arrogant our current administration is, and how a few people have the power to mold and create policy to profit their buddies and themselves.

No, no… it’s POPE, not POOP

Published by billymac under BS, ethics, religion, sarcasm

I was reading a CNN.com article about the new sinful behaviors listed by the Vatican this morning with my 17 month old son on my lap, when the whole pope vs. poop argument began (click here for full article).  This was the conversation with my son: I said while pointing at a picture of the Pope, “Look it’s the pope!”, he said “POOP!”, I replied “no, no… it’s POPE, not POOP”, he then started shrieking “POOP POOP POOP POOP!!!”.  I’m not sure who won the argument.    The article noted:

A Vatican official has listed drugs, pollution and genetic manipulations as well as social and economic injustices as new areas of sinful behavior.

Well holy schniekies batman look out for an avalanche of bullshit.  My head is spinning right now.   Drugs, what about alcohol?  Hello!!!?? wine anybody?  Pollution?  I’m sure the Vatican doesn’t pollute as it is a small city, as well as all of the franchise churches spanning the globe, and how long has it been that being a dick makes it a sin?  Genetic manipulations, since when has the church been afraid of science?  I’m actually surprised they didn’t make the belief in evolution a sin.  Social and Economic injustices… well this one just takes the cake.  How many millions and billions of people were killed and tortured in the name of God and the church over the years?  And the church itself has set itself up to be an elite society (and extremely affluent).

Are we missing something?  I know, how about the priests sucking on the alter boy’s peckers?  The article mentioned this:

Girotti said the Catholic Church continued to be concerned by other sinful acts, including abortion and pedophilia.

He said Church authorities had reacted with rigorous measures to child abuse scandals within the clergy, but he also claimed that the issue had been excessively emphasized by the media.

What was that?  I couldn’t hear you Girotti, I nearly drowned from a tsunami of horse-shit and was hurling up road apples.  Replace the words “rigorous measures to” with “covering up the” in the sentence above for a more accurate statement.

Come to think of it… I have a pretty smart 17 month old son.

Pope shit in woods?

The Question Mark

Published by billymac under BS, insane, media, video

I saw a headline on CNN.com today that reminded me of a Daily Show segment called “The Question Mark” which originally aired in the Fall of 2006. First-off, this segment, as are many of the Daily Show segments, was genius, it covers the use of a question mark by Fox News, CNN, and other main-stream media shriekers of bullshit as a ridiculous ploy to raise alarm without any consequences of being unethical. Today’s headline on the CNN.com front page was “Is your money safe in the bank?”, click here for full article. Are these assholes so desperate for ratings that they would try to drum up a basic fear from the depression era? In the article CNN.com reports:

The FDIC maintains that not one depositor has lost a single cent of insured funds since 1934 as a result of a bank failure

Experts say you shouldn’t panic.

Experts may say don’t panic, but CNN says “RUN FOR THE HILLS, HIDE YOUR MONEY IN THE MATTRESS, AND RAPE YOUR CATS…. THE BANKS ARE FAILING!!!”. What a bunch of asshole, fuck-nut, douchebags. Please check out the segment below, you won’t be disappointed.

Newsflash: Sharks eat people that swim in bloody water

Published by billymac under BS, insane, sarcasm, travel

Knock-Knock-Knock… hello?  McFly?  If you place chum in the water and then swim in it, you just might get eaten by a shark.  A tourist died yesterday on a “shark dive” after he was bitten in the leg.  Click here for full story.  The excerpt from the article below is a masterpiece:

The company’s Web site says it offers the opportunity to get “face to face” with sharks. The site explains that its hammerhead and tiger shark expeditions in the Bahamas are “unique shark trips … run exclusively for shark enthusiasts and photographers.”

To ensure “the best results we will be ‘chumming’ the water with fish and fish parts,” the Web site explains. “Consequently, there will be food in the water at the same time as the divers. Please be aware that these are not ‘cage’ dives, they are open water experiences.”

Brilliant marketing.  I wonder if these guys run any “in your face” safari outings?  They could dump you out of a Range Rover in the Serengeti wearing nothing buy a bloody steak vest, a head-lamp, and some Lion pheromones.  But be warned, this is an open plains experience without any shark cages or guns and shit.

Torture? What Torture redux

Published by billymac under BS, ethics, politics

Mukasey Mukasey Mukasey….. The Attorney General Michael Mukasey once again tap-danced around the issue if waterboarding was illegal and technically torture as he was grilled on the subject in front of the Senate yesterday.  I know this is lame, but I’m going to quote myself from a post I did on this subject in October when this human waste of skin was going through the nomination/confirmation process.  I said:

I have an idea, let’s line up Bushy-poo, Cheney, Rice, Mr. Mukasey and all of the other neo-con war-birds who are for these methods and have them undergo “alternative” questioning.  After they are interrogated, we’ll poll them to see if they felt they were tortured.

As a coincidence, the Senate Democrats asked a question of Mukasey during the hearing and received this answer (Click here for full ABCnews.com article):

“Would waterboarding be torture if it was done to you?”

“I would feel that it was,” Mukasey answered.

It all really boils down to this, if Mukasey declares officially that waterboarding is torture and illegal, the CIA will be liable for litigation for performing this in the past, this is a cover up and CYA move by the assholes in charge of this country.  The problem is there is a loose definition of what torture is, it mostly includes what you can’t do (maim, rape, burn, etc. etc.).  An exclusionary list of things will never work effectively as the CIA or other clandestine organizations will always be able to come up with creative ideas of torture that aren’t technically torture by the legal definitions.

I have another idea, let’s strap Mukasey down to a board, I will have prepared for a month by working out and sitting in a sauna daily, AND will not shower for the month.  I will then dip my balls on his face (classic T-bag maneuver), he can then tell me if that is torture or not as it technically isn’t prohibited.

Obama supporters have no sense of humor

Published by billymac under 2008 elections, BS, douche

It turns out that a couple of prominent Obama supporters were influential in the rejection of Steven Colbert’s name from the primary ballots in South Carolina.  According to a CNN.com article:

At least one member of the executive council, who requested anonymity, told CNN he felt “pressured” by former State Superintendent of Education Inez Tenenbaum to oppose placing Colbert on the ballot.

Tenenbaum, who ran for U.S. Senate in 2004, is a high-profile supporter of Obama. Her endorsement of Obama in April was touted by the campaign in May, and she has appeared at several Obama campaign events, including the opening of a campaign headquarters this summer.

Booooooo South Carolina, and Booooooo the executive council, this just cements my opinion that Obama is a tool (even though it was his supporters and not the man, I still think he is a tool by association).  Special interests in politics is out of control in this country.

Obama is a tool

Torture? What torture?

Published by billymac under BS, ethics, politics

Retired judge and US Attorney General nominee Michael Mukasey has refused to answer the question of whether the interrogation technique known as waterboarding violates US law.  For those of you who don’t know, waterboarding is the interrogation technique where the suspect is strapped to a board and either immersed in water or water is poured on them to simulate drowning.  Congress declared waterboarding illegal in 2006.  So what I want to know is how the fuck can Mukasey NOT say this is against US law?  Oh yeah, because our jit-bag government uses it and other “alternative” interrogation techniques as reported in this CNN.com article:

Bush has acknowledged authorizing the use of “alternative” interrogation techniques against suspected terrorists.

Though his administration insists that it does not torture prisoners, it refuses to reveal which interrogation techniques may be used.

I would have a hell of lot more respect for them if they just said “hell yes we torture them” than tap dancing around and lying.

I will leave you with a good quote about torture from Reservoir Dogs, Nice Guy Eddie:

Would you stop it with that shit.  You beat on this prick enough, he’ll tell ya he started the Chicago fire.  That don’t necessarily make it so.

The illusion of security

Published by billymac under BS, civil liberties, government

The TSA announced yesterday that it was loosening up restrictions on bulky head-wear and turbans no longer necessitating a search (unless the aforementioned head-gear sets off the metal detector).  I found a gem of a quote in an MSNBC article discussing the change:

Experts say mixing up the screening techniques is good security. “We must use security measures that are unpredictable, agile,” TSA Administrator Kip Hawley told a Senate panel Tuesday.

What a total crock of shit.  Since when has the TSA been “agile” or anything short of reactionary?  All of the current annoyances amount to nothing but gross incompetence and lack of vision, i.e., taking off your shoes, limiting your gels and liquids, taking out your laptop, no matches/lighters, taking off your bra in public (yep they have made people do it), etc etc.  None of these measures were pro-active or based off of intelligence, they were reactions to loonies.
