Got Aggression?

Some more stuff by billymac at 6:15 pm under cool, personal, rugby, sports, stuff

In a former life I used to play rugby, actually, in a former life I used to LOVE rugby. I played for a little over 8 years starting in college and finishing with a couple of mens league teams. There are a number of reasons why rugby rules as a sport, it is truly a team sport, you can have 5 superstars on a team and still suck if the rest are mediocre, and the camaraderie among teammates and opponents is head and shoulders above other team sports. I miss all of the social aspects of the game and competition (I’m pretty much the most competitive motherfucker I know) but lately I really really really really miss the hits. I miss taking out all of the pent up aggression of the week from work or school out on the sad silly son-of-a-bitch that was my opposite. It turns out, that full-contact sports are therapeutic, I tried to take it out on the cat as a substitute, but it’s just not the same. And after you replace 19 cats in a month, the animal shelter gets suspicious. Anyway, I’ll leave you with some of the reasons why I miss rugby, check out these vids, the first is a good compilation of hits (full disclosure for those of you that don’t know the rules, there are a lot of illegal hits in this video), the second is of the haka… enjoy bitches…

Good stuff! I almost punched the wall after seeing all of those hits.

I never played but like the toughness of the game, I played lacrosse in high school, college+ clubs. it isn’t as badass as rugby but it’s got that same kind of cult appeal and like rugby it’s another sport for drunks and stoners

Nice, there is very little that compares to picking another human being up and spiking him into the ground at full speed. Those things that do compare are illegal and/or you can’t do them in public. That wallaby who was watching the haka looked like he was about to crap his pants. Looking forward to watching some good rugby this summer.

Just tell the shelters you own a Chinese restaurant.

    Seriously.

That started becoming ok when people started NOT spaying and neutering their cats.

Cats would outnumber cockroaches if it wasn’t for Chinese food!

I love rugby. There was this international sports channel that I watched because of the English Premier League & rugby. Rugby is such a man’s sport. It’s the toughest sport out there. I would gang bang a whole rugby team.

There was a point there for a few years that I had to play. I could actually feel the aggression building up during the off season. Luckily I never assaulted anyone, at least not anyone that mattered.

Aggression is still there, though not as much, but knees no longer agree with the idea of running somewhere just to hit someone.

    C.Rag…
That last comment just earned you a new reader, and if I release that info to some of my former teammates, don’t be surprised if you get a knock at your door late one night.

HM: the wall is better than the wife

TV: lacrosse seems pretty cool, you get to kick the shit out of each other with sticks… to make it really hairy manly check out hurling, now that seems like a fucked up sport, kinda like rugby and lacrosse mixed together with a concrete ball.

tlittle: i’m looking forward to it this summer as well… i noticed the wallaby shifting nervously… i think he was wearing SNL’s “oops i crapped my pants”.

mike: i have a long-standing theory that you will always find a chinese restaurant within a 1 mile radius of any animal hospital… prove me wrong…

crag: i know a bunch of dudes that would probably take you up on the gang bang idea… i think they already have their pants around their ankles…

    edited: i just noticed sadcox’s comment… crag, i speak the truth…. sadcox… that’s the conundrum i’m in… where’s the outlet?

I played rugby for one year in high school in South Africa. Then my family moved to America.

Maybe you can find a men’s league that you can join?

Its not that dangerous if you take proper precautions.

Where’s the outlet? Go out and run/bike/paddle/hike a long distance all by yourself.

You’ll be too tired for any of that violence shit.

BFR wanted me to add that really long naps and parking yourself at a pizza buffet for an entire afternoon are effective methods as well.
