The Question Mark

Some more stuff by billymac at 8:57 am under BS, insane, media, video

I saw a headline on CNN.com today that reminded me of a Daily Show segment called “The Question Mark” which originally aired in the Fall of 2006. First-off, this segment, as are many of the Daily Show segments, was genius, it covers the use of a question mark by Fox News, CNN, and other main-stream media shriekers of bullshit as a ridiculous ploy to raise alarm without any consequences of being unethical. Today’s headline on the CNN.com front page was “Is your money safe in the bank?”, click here for full article. Are these assholes so desperate for ratings that they would try to drum up a basic fear from the depression era? In the article CNN.com reports:

The FDIC maintains that not one depositor has lost a single cent of insured funds since 1934 as a result of a bank failure

Experts say you shouldn’t panic.

Experts may say don’t panic, but CNN says “RUN FOR THE HILLS, HIDE YOUR MONEY IN THE MATTRESS, AND RAPE YOUR CATS…. THE BANKS ARE FAILING!!!”. What a bunch of asshole, fuck-nut, douchebags. Please check out the segment below, you won’t be disappointed.

People who get their news from Fox should be put on the same Island as G.W. Bush and blown up.

if you’ve ever seen the documentary outfoxed there’s a whole segment where they show fox news anchors making all of these ridiculous accusations by just putting the phrase,”people say.” in front of their lie. this way they’re not floating a scurrilous rumor, it’s just what “people are saying” an example would be sean hannity saying, “people are saying that Barak Obama attended a madrassa.” or “people are saying that Barak Obama isn’t patriotic” how many morons fall for this shit is scary.

I don’t have a cat. Does that mean I’m fucked and will lose all of my savings? Is my use of question marks inflammatory?

that’s actually a filthy manipulation technique that teaches you in the journalism school. as a journalist, you’re supposed to use your moral compass and never to take advantage of it.

anyway, they should come up with something more intelligent than this. it’s really getting old.

on the other hand, i have all my money in the bank. is europe safer?
    just asking…

    Mike: Amen

PP: scary truth, the daily show is more objective than the main-stream media

Kerstin: Helllllllooooo… rhetorical question anybody? :)

TV: I haven’t seen that documentary, I’ll check it out, right after I chill my heart and slam a bottle of blood pressure medicine so the blood doesn’t squirt from my temples after I get pissed watching it.

HM: Sorry, looks like you’re fucked?

marm: good word choice… our main-stream media in the US is filthy… CNN says you’re fucked too, they are equal opportunity assholes in the media, Europe is not spared. Although the Euro is kicking the shit outta the dollar right now.
