Watch what you say… or write
A man was charged with disorderly conduct in Doylestown, PA when he put an obscenity (the big F-word) on the memo line of the check he used to pay a $5 parking fine. Evidently the clerk who processed the fine was offended and the rest is history. Let me get this out of the way before I rant… FUCK YOU DOYLESTOWN! Ok, now come and arrest me assholes. From the article (Click here to read full article):
Clerks were offended by the message, and the disorderly conduct charge was filed because the comment was obscene, police Chief James Donnelly said.
“He was contrite enough to offer an apology, and I think that satisfies the people who were insulted by it,” he said.
So much for free speech… great now we have to worry if we offend somebody, which pretty much makes me fucked in all 50 states. Sorry, screwed in all 50 states, is that better? But at least they dropped the charges because they were “satisfied” with the apology. So what would happen if they weren’t satisfied? I wrote you a check Doylestown.

We should celebrate freedom of speech in this country, instead we devolve into politically correct bullshit. On the extreme other side of the spectrum of the free speech debate is the Klu Klux Klan vs. the Missouri Department of Transportation. In this case MODOT denied the KKK’s application to enter into the adopt-a-highway program, the KKK sued and eventually won when MODOT lost an appeal. I agree with the KKK in this instance (even if they are ignorant douche-bags) based solely on our rights of free speech. The best part about this story is, MODOT changed the name of the highway to “Rosa Parks Highway” in a bit of a “fuck you” to the KKK, good for you Missouri. It turned out the KKK were dropped from the program after all, when they never showed up to clean up the highway, I guess you can’t teach assholes new tricks, or get lazy racist rednecks out of their trailers to pick up trash.

This whole politically correct thing and everybody getting so offended so easily and the suing and charging is really, really, really FUCKING annoying.
Yea, take that Doylestown, I said FUCK! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I’m totally with Mike on this one. People have to worry WAY too much about being PC. And I know, there are some people who really need to worry a little more about it, but, like you said, it’s about freedom of speech. We don’t have to like it, but it’s part of what makes us American. And should someone spout off at the mouth every once in a while, give them a fucking break. They’ve probably had a really shitty day.
Fuck ‘em! I would have done the same thing. In fact, I might just send them a check for a buck and in the memo line tell them they can eat me!
Good post about some important stuff. I’ve got the feeling that tony Doylestown is in for a major attack of F-bombs. Fuck ‘em.
They should just be glad he didn’t pay them with pennies!
I think sometimes there is a bit of confusion on these issues. The key word in what the police chief said was “obscenity”. Many towns do have laws against public obscenities. It’s not a matter of what you can say, but rather where you can say it.
However, with the KKK deal I definitely agree with you. And it’s funny how those things work themselves out sometimes, isn’t it?
Anyhow, I have something here you may have missed. I did an article on Mike Huckabees comments on the Constitution, and I think it really applies here and is far more of a threat to our rights were he to get elected.
I don’t know if you take requests, but if you do, I would like to see your thoughts on this in a post. You can find my article at the link below.

Steve: I am absolutely going to post on that soon, I just have to wipe the tears of rage from my eyes before I can type. Hungry Mother scooped it for me the other day, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
Looking forward to it. I figure you will have some good input on it. It looked to me like it was up your alley.
Okay, so Dave Binner has a bad day, writes Go F*CK Yourself in the memo of a check he sends in to pay for a parking ticket. Next thing he knows a Doylestown cop is standing at his door giving him the option of a citation for disorderly conduct or going to jail. How ridiculous is that?! Only in Doylestown would the police actually spend their time and taxpayers money on something as frivolous as this. The funny part about this whole ordeal is that it really has gotten blown waaaay out of proportion, I mean, it was on the front page of foxnews.com and msnbc.com last weekend, and practically every newspaper in the country has picked up this story. All Dave wanted to do by taking this to court was to clear his name, not create nationwide attention. The thing that makes the entire situation even more hysterical to myself and husband is the fact that Mr. Binner was the best man at our wedding last April. In any case, join me in sending the Doylestown Police Department a little piece of how we feel in the matter in the form of a well written check :-).
